This Christmas, Torquay's Bay of Lights Illumination Trail is set to dazzle residents and visitors alike with an exciting new light display, featuring "Holly the Christmas Octopus". This enchanting light spectacle will be staged on Beacon Quay, promising to ignite the night sky and transform Torquay into a festive wonderland.
Holly's unforgettable origin story
Once upon a time, deep in the heart of the ocean, lived a unique octopus named Holly. Holly was born with a sweet pink colour, and her eight arms sparkled like tinsel under the sea.
A curious octopus
Holly was known for her curiosity and adventurous spirit. She loved exploring the ocean bed, collecting shiny pebbles and unusual artifacts discarded by humans. One day, during one of her expeditions, she found a strange object that glittered even in the dark depths of the ocean. It was a broken piece of a Christmas ornament, a star that had somehow found its way to the ocean floor.
Learning about Christmas
Intrigued by the shimmering object, Holly began to explore the meaning behind it. With the help of her sea friends, she learned about the tradition of Christmas - a time of joy, giving, and bright lights.
Creating the Bay of Lights
Torbay, a coastal area known for its love of festivities, decided to honor Holly's spirit. They created a magnificent light display, "Holly the Christmas Octopus", as part of the Bay of Lights Illumination Trail. This display serves as a beacon of festive joy, right on Beacon Quay!
